[February 3, 2023] Catapult’s portable lab is returning to Redmond and Madras in February. This is an opportunity for Bright Wood Health and Wellness Plan (BWHWP) members to get free annual preventative health screenings while at work and on the clock. Covered spouses and dependents 18 and older are also invited to take part.

Your appointment and results are confidential, just as if you paid for your health screenings at a local lab or doctor’s office.

Catapult’s health technicians are bilingual. Each screening begins with COVID-19 protocols, a blood pressure check, and a finger-stick blood test. Then you will be asked to fill out a health questionnaire on a touch-screen laptop. Next, a Catapult technician will measure your height, weight, and abdominal circumference in a private room.

You should have your screening results in 15 to 25 minutes. A licensed nurse practitioner will go over them with you via a private video conference. If your screens raise any red flags, the nurse will help you figure out the next steps. You can have your lab results sent to your doctor. Bright Wood will not see your records.

“The Catapult lab makes it super easy because all you have to do is walk over, do your screen, have your visit, and then go back to your plant,” Daryl Booren, Personnel Director, said.

“Early detection is crucial in health care, whether it be physical or mental health,” Daryl said. “The earlier that you begin to treat something, the quicker and better the recovery, and the lower the cost associated with it for the individual and the BWHWP.”

“These diagnostic screenings are open to whoever wants to try them,” Gloria Lockey, Personnel Manager, said. “They are convenient, they are here, you don’t have to request time off for them, and you don’t have to pay for them.”
