Bright People Donate $11,742 to Central Oregon Charities in December

Redmond Collects $4,305.50 for Fire Department’s Holiday Drive - $1,941.50 More Than Last Year
Generous Redmond folks collected $4,305.50 for the Redmond Fire Department’s Toy & Food Drive. They raised $3,554.50 through onsite auctions and another $750 with the company-wide raffle, pushing their annual giving total well above last year’s $2,364 donation. Each plant also collected toys and canned food for their local fire department’s holiday drive.
Bend Raises $4,208 for Fire Department
Carol Choske (third picture down on the right) of the Bend Cut Plant donated one of her paintings, which fetched $255 at Bend’s holiday auction. Between their onsite auction and participation in the company raffle (along with the donation of several Fred Meyer gift cards that Bend folks won in the raffle), the site raised a total of $4,208 for the Bend Fire Department’s Community Assistance Program. The program is “designed to provide immediate assistance beyond the services normally available from the Bend Fire Department and other organizations,” according to a thank you letter to Bend Bright Wood people from John Love, the Community Assistance Program director. “Examples of these would be assisting a single mother by purchasing Tylenol for a sick child, purchasing a coat for a young girl or boy who does not have one, or assisting a person with temporary lodging.”
Madras Donates $3,229 and 112 Wrapped Gifts for Local Children
Madras elves (fourth picture down on the right) loaded 112 gifts purchased and wrapped by Bright Wood people for Jefferson County children on December 16. Madras people also raised $3,229 through the company raffle. The Madras funds were distributed to Jefferson County children’s charities including the Boys & Girls Club, Little League, the library, and 4-H.
